T-Link™ is our advanced engineering thermoplastic resin that combines superior adhesion with the processing characteristics of a thermoplastic.
L&L Products meets long-existing industry needs with T-Link™, refrigeration and special handling are not required and – being highly customizable – the material can be consolidated easily and quickly into a composite structure.
T-Link™ is a good candidate where typical thermoplastic adhesive films do not perform as desired. Due to its thermoplastic nature, T-Link™ is drapable for deep drawn parts allowing for production of irregularly shaped components. T-Link™ is commonly used to replace messy and time-consuming liquid epoxy solutions.
Conventional thermoset resins build strength and modulus through chemical crosslinks but have lower strain to failures ratios. T-Link™ polymers, on the other hand, are devoid of crosslinks and can move past one another to achieve high strain to failures values of up to 40 percent thus increasing toughness and energy absorption.
General characteristics of T-LINK™
High strength, rigidity, and toughness
Short cycle times needed for bonding
Can be stored at room temperature
Transparent and pigmentable
Debonding, healing capability
T-Link™ is available in a range of melt viscosities, enabling a tailor-made solution in multiple forms*, including resin pellets, transparent film, expanded film, monofilament, multifilament, coated yarns, powder, veil, and unidirectional composite/tape. * Some T-Link™ technologies in this overview are still in development phase.
Being an advanced versatile thermoplastic matrix resin, T-Link™ can be used to create lightweight, highly customizable composite structures that empower performance with processibility in a wide range of markets and potential applications.
